Why You Can’t Be Coached To Be A Natural With Pickup

There were quite a few comments over at the Real Social Dynamics vs Love Systems Bootcamp post that I published yesterday. I noticed that some guys said that the Real Social Dynamics bootcamps are for guys wanting to be “natural” in picking up women, and that a base of routines is a requirement for learning the more “advanced” material known as natural game.

What I’m about to say is not demeaning towards the commentators in anyway, which were quite valid in regards to the actual post. My discussion in this post is about the false concept of being able to be trained into a “natural” through a bootcamp of all things.

“If you are already talkative and outgoing, RSD can help you quite a bit. ” -Adonis

“RSD is definitely more intune with “natural be yourself” game while Lovesystems is for the guy who struggles in social settings. Both have their positive points and are really geared for different types of guys….” -Brad

The Concept Of Being Natural

A natural in community terms is someone who attracts women through his life, words, and actions without using canned lines or other forms of persuasion typical to routine-based game like Mystery Method. A natural doesn’t have a plan per se, but instead uses his life and personality to attract women into it. This is usually through social circles, charisma, and lifestyle.

Why You Cannot Be Trained As A Natural In A Bootcamp

Being a natural is not trainable. Why? A natural by definition is someone who writes their own rules, plays by their own game, and naturally attracts women through who they are as a person. Can naturals be made? Sure. Can they be trained? No.

Natural Game VS Routine Bootcamp

What’s the difference?

Making yourself a natural requires that you are heavily involved in your life’s pursuits that are particular to YOUR PERSONALITY & LIFE. By using what you have naturally, you can expand your life and make it naturally attractive to women. Therefore, as soon as you start crossing over into “things to say” or “what to do” to project that natural attractiveness, you’ve entered the routine-based game arena. Routines are supposed to be from your life. They are supposed to be specific to you. The stories, games, cocky lines, body language tips, etc, that may eventually become natural inside you were still learned specifically for the purpose of building attraction. They were planned out originally from a routine-based game perspective. I think many guys think that a natural is someone who has the ability to dynamically reproduce those routines on the fly without rehearsal. That skillset comes from practice. A parallel would be sales. You learn the concepts and specifics, (eg. closing the sale, scarcity, etc) and they become natural to you and you can apply them to any product you are to sell.

The question remains…

How Do You Make Yourself a Natural Without Coaching?

You learn social skills, correct body language and build natural confidence that comes from personal successes in social scenarios through a specific plan. True confidence is only built through positive experiences in the area you wish to have confidence in. Eg. Approaching a woman in a bar.

In summary, you should never pay to be trained in becoming a natural.

Why do people want to be trained to learn to be more natural? Because they don’t want to come off as fake or someone they aren’t. Don’t you think that being propelled to an advanced level which ONLY comes through a natural learning curve is inherently unnatural? You should learn principles to govern yourself by, YES, but you can’t learn those in a 72-hour period. Those are learned through assimilation of external stimuli as you progress through your life, and by meeting others who employ those skills in theirs over time.

The confidence, “assertive dominance”, body language, charisma, and all these Real Social Dynamics buzz words are all learned through either trial and error or having a plan of action and NOT by a coach. It’s good marketing on Real Social Dynamics and other pickup companies to give men their desired result NOW - natural game - but that only comes through time and effort. By learning the principles of natural game you only further the gap between your current position and your goal of attracting women.

Do you need to be coached in “routines” at a beginning level to become natural later? Not necessarily but it would speed the learning curve if those routines are specifically from your life. Otherwise, the concepts you’ll learn to be a trained as a natural will in themselves make you UNNATURAL.

I’m saying that there is no need to take a “natural” bootcamp ever. Because the thing that makes you a natural naturally, is positive experience in your skills as a man. That can never be taught in an express manner.

Do naturals exist?

Yes. But they usually surface after YEARS and YEARS of positive experiences and the mind/body’s process of weeding out what works and what doesn’t.

“But What If I’ve Reached A Certain Level Of Game, And Want To Become A Natural. Isn’t A Natural Game Bootcamp Now Valid?”

No, it’s not. If you’re truly getting good results from women using routines or a plan of action, why would you want to become “natural”? Aren’t you already a natural? Or perhaps what’s needed now is tweaking instead of a complete overhaul. How about mastering those skills FIRST instead of worrying about becoming a natural? What I’ve seen happen usually is that guys get worn out, feel fake and/or don’t feel like putting in correct effort, so they see a magic pill to their problem which is… NATURAL GAME! “That’s why that girl didn’t like me! I wasn’t being myself NATURALLY!” NO… it’s because you haven’t integrated what works with your personality. You’ve come across as fake because you’ve taken the easy road and COPIED someone else’s routines or plan of action that didn’t mesh with you properly.

I hope that expresses my feelings on the subject, there is validity in natural game, but only in “concepts”, not skillsets. If anything those concepts can be simply viewed on a DVD, but its pointless to be coached infield on it. Incorporating “natural game” concepts is a slow process, and if you try to do it over one weekend you’ll quickly become what you dreaded all along - UNNATURAL.

Loose Pussy

Whenever I meet a guy who likes Asian girls, one of the things he says to me is, “Their pussies are so tight.”

How is that good? Unless you’re a porn star the speed of your orgasm time is probably on your mind. The vice pussy will make it impossible to hit that respectable two-minute mark (without a condom). While I don’t actively try to give a girl an orgasm, I want to at least put on a respectable show. When you go to the circus you expect a certain level of talent from the elephants, and when you don’t get that you complain to anyone who will listen, including those who may consider seeing the show in the future… if you know what I mean.

If I had the choice of twins, once with a tight pussy and one with a loose one, I’m going with the loose one every time. It will take me so long to blast that by the time I finally do, after fucking in at least five different positions, she will think I’m a sex god even though it was just her pussy. That leads to my theory: girls with loose pussies have better sex, which leads them to have much more sex, loosening their pussies even more. It’s a vicious cycle.

Dear Asian Playboy: "Defend Us From the Haters!"

Dear Asian Playboy,This is a message to the founders.I like your product and what you are trying to do but there is one problem. Asian males have some enemies. We all know the media likes to make us look like dorks and a lot of people out of whatever kind of hatred encourage those images. So the problem with this public site is that it is a tool for those haters to point to and say hey look at how

Love Systems Vs Real Social Dynamics Bootcamp

Have you considered taking a boot camp? The major players are probably Love Systems, PUATraining and Real Social Dynamics. This comparative review was posted over at the Love Systems forum which may be very valuable for those considering taking one. This user post was in regards to Braddock’s bootcamp in Washington, April 2009.

My story:

About two years ago, late on a Friday night alone at home (which was a common theme for me) I was flipping through channels bored as hell. It just so happened, as I was scrolling through my channel guide, I saw a show called “The Pick-Up Artist” on VH1. Too lazy to hop on the computer for porn, I guess I was hoping there would be some hot chick I’d spank it to. By now, I’m sure everyone in the community has heard of the show that blew the secret off the “secret” society. Well I didn’t end up jerking off to it (was scared jerking off to the cross dressing Mystery would make me gay), but it fucking flipped my world inside out and upside down. After watching the show, of course, like every other AFC that saw the show, I had to try this shit out.

The following week, I end up going out to a club in Baltimore with some of my nerd friends (I love em, but damn they can be lame). So I pick a line off the show (dental floss) and was going to bust it out and fucking close a chick for the first time in god knows how long. By the way, I didn’t tell any of my friends about the show and was just going to impress them with all the hot chicks I landed. So heading into the club with rap music fucking blaring through the speakers, packed with people shoulder to shoulder, strobe lights going on and off all over the place, the place is loaded with women. After about 30 minutes of staring at different women, I pick the girl (an 8). She’s the blonde standing over by the bar in a hot little black dress with red heels looking like she ready for me to come over there grab her, take her into the bathroom and give her the fucking she was waiting for. At that very moment, my heart starts beating out of my chest, I start sweating like I’m a fucking 400lb guy walking up 10 flights of stairs, and I become very aware of beer my friend spilled on me 10 minutes earlier that makes me look like I pissed myself . So I walk up next to her, about to say the line, and she looks over at me and I freeze (like a sweaty deer in headlights). We make eye contact for about 3 seconds and I turn to the bartender, order my normal jack and coke, and walk a way like the chode I was. And stand against the wall with the rest of my companions.

What the fuck just happened??? Needless to say, I don’t think that set went very well. So what did I need to do to improve, I knew the answer… Tivo the rest of the season of the Pick-Up Artist. That worked about as well as me a Turtle getting laid without Vince Chase.

Over the next few months, I spend hours everyday researching shit online, reading the Game by Style, and numerous books that are listed on forums and in the book. But I never get over approach anxiety and could never find the right words to say. Once in a blue moon, under the right circumstances (not too loud, the right song, an “approachable” set, with a perfect canned line for the situation) I open a set, but cannot nail any sort of real hook.

What is going on, what can I do to get over this shit and get that grade “A” pussy I’m looking for (you know the kind that taste like ice cream, not the shitty off brand stuff, but the Häagen-Dazs of pussy).

I finally decide to put some really value behind all of the teachings I had learned, I need in the field experience. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR GAME. And for me to actually do that, I need some pushing me to open. In February of 08, I signed up for the San Francisco boot camp with RSD. This is going to the life altering training I need to break out of my chodeness, and release the inner alpha male.

Real Social Dynamics:

We are to meet at 7pm in a hotel lobby. I end up realizing who the other 2 students are, just by them having the same blank and nervous stare I had. My thoughts are racing and I’m scared shitless, but hey, 3 students to 1 instructor! This was going to be an awesome ratio, so much personal attention. The instructor shows up 7:25 (I was stressed, I was staring at my phone every 30 seconds, the only confidence I had to keep me in check was knowing I was in the right hotel cause the other two students were there.)

Finally, the PUA shows up, we begin to have our pick-up information given to us in the busy hotel lobby. He tells us to throw away everything we had learned as it was all shit. Canned lines never work; you have to become a natural now to be success with women, due to the book and the show fucking up the canned approaches. That totally makes sense, I get that. So what do I do? Be unreactive, assert dominance, give value, have core confidence. Ok great, how do I do that? The answer I received was defining what they were not demonstrating or giving examples so I couldn’t apply it to any actions or words. But fuck it, I’m going to try and do whatever I think it means. He’s the PUA, he gets paid for this, he knows what he talking about, right?

So before we head out, we get the rules. One of the first rules was that we could not ask the instructor to open a set. And which we never got to seem him do. He used having a girlfriend as an excuse. Another was “No game talk in the field” With that out of the way, we head to a nice upscale lounge and the night begins. He tells me to walk up to every set I see. I go, and immediately get blown out of the first set I approached, I return and ask what I did wrong and he replies “No game talk” and pushes towards another set. After 4 more blow outs, the night just began to grow dimmer and dimmer for me. Eventually, it just felt like my instructor gave up on me, when I said “I have no fucking idea what to say”. His response was, “it doesn’t matter”. My problem with that answer was, if I could successfully talk to women, would I have this dreaded approach anxiety? The night ends, all three of us with an unsuccessful night.

We meet up in the afternoon the next day. And after spending 2 hours waiting on the third student (apparently the instructor didn’t have his number) we realize he jumped ship. 2-1 ratio now. By this point, regardless of the ratio, I was not feeling very confident. Game talk begins again. This time, he goes over a few more cores of pick-up, of course, neither of us had been successful with the previous night so it was about logical as yelling at a dog for burning the toast your grandmother cooked in the oven a week ago.

After we broke to rest and prepare for the night, I said to myself, “Do whatever it takes to open.” So I pump myself up in my hotel, get to the bar, and my good friend, “AA”, hits me again. The first night, I didn’t drink because I wanted to focus on my game. Not tonight…I start off by pounding 3 shots, by the end of the night, and about $100 worth of drinks later, I had open tons of sets. I have no idea if they were successful, what I said, what I did, or where I lost my phone, but I opened sets. So I figured out what I needed to do to open sets, just get plastered and make a complete drunken ass out of myself.

The next day, hung-over and without a phone, we meet and spend 4 hours in a restaurant talking about day-2’s and phone game. This had an actual structure and was what I was looking for the entire boot camp. Unfortunately, I still couldn’t open successfully, which is needed to a date or get a number.

Once I finally went home, which is in Baltimore (yes, I flew from MD to San Fran for the boot camp) I just decided, pick up is not for me and I will just have to look for “4” to settle for. (Which sucks cause I can hardly get my dick hard for a 4) For the next year, I just dropped everything from the game and went back to my lonely life scrolling the TV for hot chicks on Friday nights, too lazy to walk over to my PC to find something to spank it to.

Love Systems:

A year passes…

Of course, when I was heavy into the forums, I signed up for every mailing list possible on pick-up (I receive like 5 a day from different sites, like I’m sure most of you reading this do). I never look at them but something caught my eye, a boot camp coming to DC. Took a look at it, and just out of curiosity replied to get a few more details about it. Well, I got a call from one of the sales guys and decided, fuck it; I’ll give it a try.

This time, I was not expecting my life to be altered; in fact, I expected it to be a load of bullshit. The sales guy was saying it was going to be led by a guy named Braddock, according to the sales guy, “Probably the best PUA out right now” which I also assumed to be a load of shit and was just trying to sell me.

I head to the conference room (a little bit early) where the class portion will be, yes, there are actually three full classes of teaching pick-up. This is what I was looking for a year ago. So I became a little excited, but then I walk into the room where 18 chairs are set up, I’m the first person in the room. Oh shit, one instructor for 18 people, this is going to be hell, well it ends up only 8 students, but 2 instructors and 2 assistants. I liked the break down quite a bit.

The first day, Braddock and Big Business break down opening and transitioning, and throw in a few extra pointers to help us. It was a 5 hour class, with loads of good information. It seemed a little overwhelming, but it was the same information I had actually wished for and was seeking in the RSD boot camp. Braddock gave us some openers and routines, but said not to rely on them (salt & pepper). Before we broke, we were given our mission for the night, focus on opening and transitioning, don’t worry about getting blown out, and hit a lot of sets: don’t get stuck. It was magic…an objective that didn’t rely on outcome and focused on process.

That night everyone of us blew it up. I got blown out of the first few sets, but the instructors pointed out what I did wrong (body language, tonality, smiling). The openers they gave me provided me with enough confidence to approach. If I ever felt like I wasn’t sure what to do next, Calabrese just pointed at a set and said go. By the end of the night, I wasn’t even using canned openers because it just turned into a night of having fun. I approached at least 25 sets that night and hooked quite a few.

The next day Braddock, Big Biz, Calabrese, and Feet Sauce broke down our success and areas of opportunity. The layer process of learning continued, next we focused on disqualification, attraction, and kino. And at the end of class, another mission: play specific games we were taught, get numbers and closes.

Another successful night in the record book for me on night 2. Day three, another evaluation of the previous night and onto qualification, comfort, and the “birds and the bees” (a little differently than my dad taught me, but I would have fucking loved this version from him.)

By the end of the class, my outlook on pick up has done another 180 degrees and I respect it now and actually am not afraid to open sets. Yes, I still have work to do, but I actually am able to begin that work after I moved off of my sticking point. And I know what to do if I hit another sticking point.

Break Down:

RSD was about half the price of Love Systems. It seemed like a great idea at the time, because it was cheaper, but I ended up losing a year’s worth of pussy by taking the cheap way.

RSD has an extreme approach to the “natural” which can be great, but if you struggle with finding what to say it is not the way to go.

Love Systems broke information down and explained why stuff worked, how it worked, demonstrated it to us, and gave us feedback on what we were doing. There is a real process of learning involved.

If you do not have the money for a Love Systems class, and struggle with Approach Anxiety, do not bother taking any other course. Just save money until you can afford it.

By having more than 1 instructor, Love Systems could keep the class on course and could follow multiple students so one did not end up getting lost.

The energy of the instructors will keep any student going, motivated, and confident.

The best investment in myself I have ever made.

David Deangelo’s Latest Product

I’m excited to fill you in on David DeAngelo’s latest DVD set called Man Transformation.

Here are a few Q&A’s to catch you up on the overall gist of the program, in case you’ve been neglecting the community lately =)

QUESTION: “Is this program just another version of everything you’ve taught in the past - summarized?”

No, it’s not. In fact, you shouldn’t even buy this program unless you’ve first read his book “Double Your Dating” or watched his Advanced Dating Techniques program FIRST.

This is NEW material - and it’s ADVANCED. There are tons of new concepts and techniques that he guarantees you’ve never heard before - ANYWHERE.

Sure, you’ll learn a lot, even if you’re new… but don’t expect David D to teach stuff from the past in this one - it’s not a “rehash” of old stuff.

QUESTION: “How long is this program?”

The program is about 25 hours long, on 20 DVDS. Yes, the longest, most intense program he’s ever done.

Get ready for a powerful education.

QUESTION: “Who are the guest speakers?”

Everyone from Neil Strauss and David Wygant… to Lance Mason, Hypnotica, Steve P., Vin DiCarlo… Sean Stephensen… and MANY others (including a couple of cameo guest appearances by some AWESOME female dating and relationship experts David DeAngelo has featured before).

They’ll blow your mind - a new level of amazing.

QUESTION: “How much is the DVD program?”

The main question is “How Much?” …of course.

The price is (an incredibly reasonable) $485. And yes, he’s offering a payment plan - 5 easy monthly payments of only $97. You can’t beat it.

And YES, this program comes with a 100% “no hassle” guarantee. Try it for a MONTH - and if you don’t dig it - just send it back to him. But don’t plan on sending it back - because you won’t!

That’s 20 DVDs of Man Transformation and 3 killer “Ultimate Live” training DVDs. All for the crazy bargain of $485 (or $97 per month).

Unbeatable, period.

Check out the what other guys are saying about it at the Man Transformation website at the link below:

Quitting BTYB?

Maybe by definition, but not in spirit.

I’ve been thinking a lot about BTYB / LN over the past couple weeks, which lead to the survey from yesterday (please take a minute to fill it out if you haven’t already). Tonight I had a conversation about all this with Carl Zetterlund, a long time reader who is doing a segment of LN with me right now.

So, I think it’s time to make some changes. Here are the problems, as I see them:

  • I don’t post frequently enough and we both know it. Along with this comes inconsistency. Sometimes I get in a few posts in a week, but sometimes I disappear for a couple weeks.
  • There’s a layer of formality between you and me. Most of my posts are more of a lecture from the front of the room than a conversation, to use an analogy.
  • Life Nomadic isn’t up yet, which means that most people don’t even know where I am and don’t get frequent updates on my travels, even though that’s one of the biggest and most important parts of my life right now.
  • BTYB has no real defined purpose. I think this is more in my head than in yours, but to me it’s something that’s important to me but doesn’t have a concrete place in my life.
  • I write about a lot of topics, but can’t explore some of them in great detail because it would take up too much of the blog’s focus (the practical aspects of living in an RV, for example).

I don’t post frequently enough for two reasons. One, despite having far more (and more engaged) readers here, Life Nomadic is my priority. So every week I make sure that I have my posts in for Gadling, but BTYB gets written for if a) I happen to have an idea for a post at a time when it’s convenient to write for it or b) if I’ve gone too long without writing and feel guilty.

Two, most of my life is traveling right now, and I feel like putting travel information on BTYB is blurring the line too much between the two sites.

The layer of formality stems from this problem a bit. When I write so infrequently I feel like I have to make my entries more polished. I know people look forward to the posts, so I try not to “waste” them by writing shorter blurbs about some quick interesting thought I had that day, or something funny that happened.

So… what to do about all this?

Here are some thoughts:

Combine all of my sites into one

Better Than Your Boyfriend, Life Nomadic, and Best in the Land, all under one roof. Probably an entirely new domain, either Tynan.net or ReallyAwesome.com.

Over the last year I’ve really started to get some clarity on what my passion is and what really makes me unique. I haven’t quite gotten the wording down, but it’s something along the lines of living life outside the box and inspiring and helping other people do the same.

When you think about it, EVERYTHING I do and write about fits into that definition. The new site will be focused around that idea. I think that this will also help build a sense of community and common purpose, which is one aspect I think we’re missing now.

My attention shifts between LN and BTYB now. If I’m visiting a lot of countries rapid fire I have tons of travel stuff to write. If I’m hanging out in Panama for two months, I have less.

So instead of having two sites that alternate between getting enough attention, I’ll have one that is consistent. I even have things I want to write for Best in the Land, but I don’t because I’m not willing to commit to focusing on it.

Promise and Deliver Consistency

I’m going to publicly announce and stick to a fixed schedule of posting. To make sure I do this I’m going to pre-write a bunch of posts and have my assistant publish one if I don’t have a new one ready by the deadline.

Carl was saying today that there are certain sites he checks because he knows there will be new posts. When he checks mine he expects that there won’t be. That’s sad.

I will also set a personal goal of writing at least 1000 words every day.

Have Feature Posts and Blog Posts

I’m thinking about writing two feature posts per week (the kind of stuff that gets posted now), and also writing shorter daily update style posts more frequently. Casual posts that probably won’t change your life, but will keep the conversation going.

I just got a video camera yesterday, so you can also expect video posts.

Write Short Ebooks / Guides for Niche Topics

I was inspired by Chris Guillebeau, who makes his living writing a blog with a very similar theme to mine. He has a few 30-50 page ebooks that he sells through his site. I like his approach because they’re all high quality and he doesn’t push them.

Some ideas for things I would write about are:

  • Living in an RV
  • Dropping out of School
  • A collection of my best stories, rewritten with more background and detail.
  • Behind the scenes stories from Project Hollywood
  • Going Vegan

Obviously most people wouldn’t buy most of the ebooks, but readers who are really interested in a topic would find the books valuable. Hopefully by now you trust that I do very serious research into everything I do, do it as excellently as possible, and produce very high quality work.

Earning money from BTYB is an excellent thing for you and for me. It means that I can focus more time on it, which is good for people who buy the books and those who don’t.

And just in case you’re worried that the books will take away from the free content, here is my rule:

If I don’t write the posts I said I would in a month, on time, I will find a hilarious way to give the money away to strangers and will video and post it.

The Downside

My one nagging concern is that this can somehow be considered giving up on LN, which I have committed to focusing on. In reality I consider Life Nomadic to be a major subset of what I do and what I’m about, not the superset. I will be posting more LN related content (first on my agenda is a constantly updated 2009 gear list).

After all, I’m still going to be LIVING Life Nomadic,.

How does this all sit with you?

Does this sound better than what we have going now? I think that most people read both sites anyway, so I have the feeling people will be behind it.

Some questions to consider:

  • Do you like the idea of combining the sites?
  • Do you like the idea of shorter informal posts mixed in with longer “high impact” ones, or is that diluting the whole thing?
  • Do the short books/guides appeal to you?
  • Which domain do you like better: reallyawesome.com or tynan.net?

Welcome To Ethiopia!

I’ve only been here for two days but I already feel deeply affected by the charming Ethiopian culture. It doesn’t hurt that as white man I’m being treated like a rock star. In fact, I’ve banged two Ethiopian girls so far.

I have three pictures to share. This first one is of the farmers market. It’s very similar to the ones in America, especially the one in Dupont Circle (DC).

Farmers market

This second picture is one of the girls I banged. Her name is Assefa. What initially attracted me to her was her titties, but it was her charm that really sealed the deal. We made sweet condomless love many times in her mud-brick home. She recently got tested, so it was okay. I trust her. Why would she lie?

Assefa

I bought a souvenir t-shirt from the market (cheesy, I know), and then went hiking in a field of dirt. I found a nomadic tribe and asked if I could have my picture taken with them. They agreed. Here’s your proof that I really am in Ethiopia:

I’m currently working on a detailed strategy guide on how to bang Ethiopian girls. Sneak peek: be white.

P.S. My book Bang is now available on Amazon.com and qualified for Super Saver shipping.

Talking about David Deangelo, Raphaelo (raphael.morali@sciences-po.org) says:
